DDB scores big at Cannes Lions Festival: Agency of the Year and EMEA Regional Network of the Year

What an amazing performance for DDB at Cannes! Our network won 87 Lions from 24 offices with a total of 304 Shortlists from 44 offices. We received 4 Grand Prix, 17 Gold Lions, including one in the Creative Effectiveness category, 20 Silver Lions and 46 Bronze. 

Once again, DDB Worldwide was among the top three most-awarded networks at the Festival. DDB EMEA was named Cannes Lions EMEA Regional Network of the Year. DDB APAC and DDB North America each finished third in their Regional Network of the Year rankings.  London office adam&eve DDB were the stars of the week and were named Cannes Lions Agency of the Year. Their Harvey Nichols “Sorry I Spent It On Myself” campaign alone took home 4 Grand Prix, 5 Gold Lions, 1 Silver and 2 Bronze Lions across 7 different media categories at the Festival.  Their Google+ “Front Row”, John Lewis “Bear & Hare” and Unilever Marmite “Neglect” campaigns were also multiple Lion winners. Film and Film Craft Lions for Volkswagen and Diageo rounded out their total of 22 honors.

DDB Tribal Germany’s Dusseldorf and Vienna offices had notable multiple Lion winners as well for BIC Pencils “Universal Typeface” in Mobile and Cyber and their Volkswagen Park Assist campaign picked up three Lions in Outdoor and Press. DDB Spain’s “Abortion Travel” campaign for CELEM (European Women’s Lobby) earned up a total of 5 Lions in Outdoor, PR and Direct.

Gold Lion winning campaigns were London’s multiple Lion winner “Sorry I Spent It On Myself” for Harvey Nichols and their Unilever Marmite “Rescue” campaign in Film and Outdoor. DDB Tribal Germany’s Breakfast Press campaign for McDonald’s, Hasbro Trivial Pursuit Outdoor campaign from DDB Paris and DDB Mexico’s Volkswagen Polo GTI Press campaign were Gold Lions. DDB New York also earned two Gold Lions for Water is Life in Film and Outdoor. Interbrand New York brought home Gold in Design for their Mandela Poster Project and in Mobile DDB Melbourne’s “Minute of Silence” for ANZAC Day Appeal, DDB Singapore’s “Offline Book” and “Elo Teddy Bear” from DM9DDB Brasil also received Gold Lions.

Our global client McDonald’s was selected by the Festival as the Creative Marketer of Year. This award honors clients who embrace and encourage creativity from their agencies and have distinguished themselves by inspiring innovative marketing of their products around the world and across multiple platforms. McDonald’s won its first Cannes Lion back in 1979 with DDB Chicago, then named Needham Harper & Steers, and we are proud to have been on this journey with them.
