Ideas Matter

The Cannes Lions Festival brings up many reflections of the current state of our industry. We are always about reinvention, always redefining ourselves in the ever-changing world. It’s one of the things that make our industry exciting and interesting and at times difficult. But our ideas – that shape the stories we tell – are forever at the core of what we do best.

DDB totaled an impressive 98 Lions and an additional 184 Shortlists from 32 offices across the network. Our most-awarded idea this year was “Spanish Lessons” from Alma DDB Miami for Netflix Narcos. They were honored with 7 Lions, including Gold Lions in both Direct and PR.

Other top awarded ideas were Skittles “Give the Rainbow” from adam&eveDDB UK which took home 6 Lions, including Gold Lions in both Promo and Outdoor; DDB Paris “A World With No Heroes” for Ubisoft Ghost Recon Wildlands with 6 Lions, including Cyber Gold; and John Lewis “Buster the Boxer” from adam&eveDDB UK which received 6 Lions.

Featured in this issue are also our 12 Gold Lions from nine agencies including: DDB Paris, Africa Brazil, DDB Germany, Alma DDB Miami, DM9DDB Brasil, DDB New York, adam&eveDDB London, DDB Brussels and DDB Argentina.
