To take home both the Network of the Year and the Agency of the Year titles, not only at Cannes, but now also at Eurobest is an amazing achievement and a great way to end the year. Our industry today is incredibly fast-paced and competitive. It is a significant achievement to get this recognition and an even greater one to retain it. I am very proud of our agencies, which are consistently producing fresh ideas across such a wide range of categories, and especially of adam&eveDDB, which fully deserves the Agency of the Year title.

Apart from adam&eveDDB with their one grand prix and seven gold, DDB Spain Madrid and DDB Germany Berlin also contributed with gold awards to our network tally. Other agencies with significant contribution include DDB Brussels, DDB Paris, DDB & Tribal Worldwide (Amsterdam) and DDB Stockholm. In total, we garnered 45 awards across 12 categories.

The grand prix was awarded in outdoor to our  Google+ “Front Row” campaign, which gave Manchester United fans from around the world the chance to experience a live game through Google+ hangout. The project was a technology “first” on two fronts – the use of Google Hangout outside Google’s own channels and the first time anything had been displayed live through pitch side hoardings anywhere in the world. It is also the perfect example of what is possible when you act at the intersection of creativity, humanity and technology.

Of course, Harvey Nichols “Sorry I Spent It on Myself”, also from the UK, was the big DDB winner of the night with no less then five gold. The other gold were awarded for Celem and “Abortiontravel” from Spain in direct, and in craft for our Berlin agency’s amusing Deutsche Telekom spot “Jose’s Wifi Dogs”. Another winner worth a mention because of its smart way of using media is  the “Don’t Google It” campaign for CEBA from Brussels, which took home a silver. Overall, it’s exciting to see so many great ideas coming out of this region and it’s great that our agencies are getting the recognition they deserve.
